Dear Current and Alumni Parent Ambassadors: We have an incredible opportunity for you! On August 25th and 26th -- we will be holding the 1st Parent Ambassador Racial Equity Institute at Puget Sound ESD in Renton. We received a lot of interest and requests for more a nd more comprehensive racial equity training and we want to be responsive to your needs. We also thought this work is really critical based on the current political environment and the need for us more than ever to discuss equity and racial healing. The 1 and 1/2 day Institute will consist of high quality racial equity training and conversations. Tentative timeframe: Friday - 4:30 to 8:00 and Saturday- 9:00 to 4:00 Some examples of training topics might include: · Understanding the Difference Between Structural, Institutional and Individual Racism · Courageous Conversations About Race: Leadership in Times of Civil Unrest · Lead, Follow or Get Out of the Way: Building Capacity of Community Racial Equity Leaders · Families Front & Center: Fostering Community Empowerment to Accelerate Racial Equity Transformation · Talking to Your Children about Race · Action Planning for a Vision for Change The Institute is being sponsored by WSA, Puget Sound ESD and the Peppercorn Foundation. Because of this we are able to offer limited support to Parent Ambassadors that need help with transportation, child care, and lodging.
