This will be our eighth annual Parent Leadership Conference, and the first seven were a great success.  We heard from several directors, both Head Start and ECEAP, that the training their parents and staff received was instrumental in improving the running of their Policy Councils and parent involvement. It's a great opportunity to get really high quality training for your Executive committee, new or experienced parents, and staff that work directly with parents.

Schedule:

April 17 9:00am - 5:30pm

  • Data Carousel - We will look at 5 to 7 different data points from Head Start and ECEAP programs and objectively look at the data and have a conversation about how to strengthen our programs and focus our advocacy.
  • Immigration Rights - Learn your rights if ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement) shows up at your door and develop an emergency plan for you and your family.
  • Political Landscape - Here from Katy and Joel about what is happening on the State and Federal early learning policy issues.
  • Working in teams and addressing conflict

April 18 9:00am - 3:00pm

  • Grassroots Organizing - Learn from Parents about organizing in your program and community.
  • Leadership Training - Presenter (TBD) Learn how to become a better leader through listening.
  • Presentation Skills - Katy will lead a session on developing your presentation skills.
  • Dad Panel -  Hear from Dads and learn how they are engaging in their local programs.
