About the Position

The Washington State Association of Head Start and ECEAP is a statewide early learning advocacy organization based in Bellevue. We represent the interests of Head Start and ECEAP providers, staff, and parents and bring their collective voices to key policy makers. We are seeking someone for a newly created position of Program Manager for our award-winning parent leadership and organizing initiative called Parent Ambassadors.

The Parent Ambassadors Program is now in its 11th year and has successfully organized more than 200 Head Start and ECEAP parents from across Washington State. Each year we provide intensive training to 20 to 25 parents with children enrolled in Early Head Start, Head Start, ECEAP, Working Connections Child Care, and give them the skills to advocate on behalf of issues impacting their families. Parent Ambassadors often travel to Olympia to testify, meet with their lawmakers, and attend rallies and other campaign events.  Each year, a handful of Ambassadors have the opportunity to meet their congressional delegation in Washington DC. Since its founding, Parent Ambassadors have played a key role in expanding ECEAP, stabilizing childcare, and increasing funding for Head Start. Now the Parent Ambassadors Program is ready to take the next step with the help of a dynamic and strategic Program Manager.
